The Irish history of the Shamrock was begun by Celtic druids! 
 
The three leaves of the shamrock symbolize the three roles that the Celtic goddess Ana or Anu played in Ireland's history: maiden, mother, and crone. 
 
You've probably heard of the "Luck of the Irish," but a shamrock is not the same as a four-leaf clover. 
 
Did you know that there is a one in 10,000 chance of finding a four-leaf clover in a field? 

Also, the three leaves of a shamrock represent hope, faith, and love (again with the symbol of threes). 
 
We obtain our luck from a fourth leaf. 
The four-leafed clover, sometimes known as the "happy clover," is a rare variety of the three-leafed clover and is frequently regarded as a lucky charm. 
 
The Gaelic word for shamrock, "seamrag," translates to "small clover," which is appropriate given that both shamrocks and four-leaf clovers are members of the white clover plant family. 
 
Because of this, we use the symbol of the shamrock in witchcraft (especially for luck) quite often.
